NorthEast United played brilliantly to salvage a point against league leaders Mumbai City FC, with a 3-3 draw at the end of the game. Here are the three key talking points from the entertaining fixture.

Deshorn Brown scores a hat-trick to save the Highlanders

What a game to score a hat-trick in. The Jamaican forward came in clutch with two goals in the second half to deny Mumbai City FC’s hopes of taking three easy points against NorthEast United.

His first and third goals were assisted by Imran Khan, and the 31-year-old is now among the highest scorers in the league, with only five games played so far this campaign.

What a game from both teams

The 3-3 draw was an absolute thriller from start to finish.

Both the teams had a number of chances to extend their leads and win the game, but they were denied by remarkable saves on both ends.

There was no lack of chances created in the 90 minutes, but the poor finishing led to a game that could’ve had more goals.

Mumbai City FC fail to extend lead at the top

After Jamshedpur and Kerala Blasters drew 1-1 yesterday, it seemed like Mumbai had the perfect chance to gain an advantage over the rest of the teams.

But, NorthEast United clawed their way back into the game to take a much-needed point from the game. Despite being close to the bottom of the table, the Highlanders showed that they are capable of taking the fight to the best team in the country as well.

Mumbai, on the other hand, are still on top with 16 points from 8 games.
