Here are the leaked specifications about the upcoming AMD RDNA 2 GPUs featuring Navi 24 chip

Videocardz has leaked the first images of AMD’s upcoming and smallest RDNA 2 GPU, the Navi 24 chip. The chip will be used in the Radeon RX 6500 XT and Radeon RX 6400 graphics cards, which will be released in 2022.

The AMD Navi 24 ‘RDNA 2’ GPU is expected to be the smallest member of the Radeon RX 6000 series, with a die size of 141mm2. It’s half of the Navi 23 GPU, and it’s meant to power low-end discrete graphics cards like the Radeon RX 6500 XT and RX 6400. In addition, the GPU will be the first to use TSMC’s brand new 6nm production node.

The complete Navi 24 XT GPU die will be used in the AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT. The AMD Navi 24 GPU, codenamed ‘Beige Goby’ internally, is the smallest in the RDNA 2 series and will feature a single SDMA engine. The chip will include two shader arrays, totalling 8 GPS and up to 16 Compute Units. Because AMD uses 64 stream processors per computing unit, the Navi 24 GPU’s total core count is 1024, which is half of the Navi 23 GPU’s 2048 stream processors in 32 compute units.

Each shader array would have 128 KB of L1 cache, 1 MB of L2 cache, and 16 MB of Infinity Cache in addition to the number of cores (LLC). The AMD Navi 24 RDNA 2 GPUs will also be available on low-end Radeon RX 6500 or RX 6400 series chips with a 64-bit bus interface.

The card will have a 128 GB/s bandwidth, but AMD is working on a new marketing term for overall bandwidth (including Infinity Cache), which is rated at 232 GB/s. The AMD Navi 24 is predicted to have extremely high clock speeds, possibly exceeding 2.8 GHz.

The AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card will have 1024 cores and 4 GB of GDDR6 memory, according to the specifications. Any mining algorithm, notably ETH, would be impossible for the card to operate in. The highest model will have a TDP of 107W, requiring external power hookups to turn on. The card is planned to be released on January 19th, so look for an announcement during CES 2022.

AMD Radeon RX 6400 Graphics Card With Navi 24 XL GPU

The AMD Radeon RX 6400 is the second card in the Navi 24 RDNA 2 family, and it will be built on a slightly reduced ‘XL’ architecture with 768 cores. The card will keep its 4 GB of GDDR6 memory and run at somewhat lower clock speeds, but still in the 2.5 GHz+ range. Because of its 53W TDP, the RX 6400 is expected to boot without the use of any power connectors. While the Radeon RX 6400 is slated to arrive after the 6500 XT, it will most likely remain an OEM-only device with no custom versions. The card is aimed at the entry-level and low-profile GPU market, featuring a single-slot and half-height form factor, a single fan, and an HDMI + DP output, according to the official renders.

Both GPUs will be targeted at the entry-level market, with MSRPs ranging from $200 to $250 in the United States. The Navi 24 GPUs are expected to be geared at the entry-level 1080p gaming market, as the Radeon RX 6600 series is already positioned in the premium 1080p gaming category. However, considering that AMD has hiked the cost of RDNA 2 GPUs and has advised its AIB partners to do the same, the entry-level market may wind up in yet another shambles for budget builders eager to get their hands on something after waiting years.
