NVIDIA silently launches GeForce RTX 2050 for laptops

While NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 series GPUs have been already introduced by NVIDIA for laptops as a replacement for older GTX 1660s or GTX 1660 Tis, now, it has launched a new RTX 2050, an older Turing based GPU for budget gaming laptops.

The company made an unexpected announcement recently that it will bring a new entry-level GPU, this is a strategy to make its whole lineup compatible with RTX/DLSS. This makes RTX 2050 a great option for budget gaming laptops and as per ComputerBase, the new graphics card for laptops is based on Ampere GA107 GPU.

Surprisingly, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 features 2048 CUDA cores, more than RTX 2060, however, the RTX 2050 has a limited memory bandwidth of 112 GB/s because of the 64-bit memory bus and 4GB GDDR6 memory. This could a great option for budget creativity laptops as it draws a TGP of 30 to 45W.

Here’s what NVIDIA stated:

Joining the lineup of GeForce RTX 20 series laptops is the GeForce RTX 2050. These new laptops feature RT Cores, Tensor Cores, and NVIDIA Encoder to enable our suite of features including ray tracing, NVIDIA DLSS, Reflex, and Broadcast, among others. The RTX 2050 also works seamlessly with NVIDIA Optimus® technology to give you the perfect balance between long battery life and optimum performance.

NVIDIA has also confirmed the fact that the new RTX 2050 will be launching in Spring 2022, maybe paired with next-gen Intel and AMD CPUs which we will at CES 2022.
