Dusan Vlahovic levels Cristiano Ronaldo to set 60-year-old Serie A record

Dusan Vlahovic is making the headlines with every passing week. The Serbian striker has now equalled Cristiano Ronaldo for the most goals scored in a calendar year in Serie A since 1960.

His goal in the 2-2 draw against Fiorentina helped him achieve the record. The 21-year-old now has 16 goals from 18 games this season, and leads the race for the Capocannoniere.

Alongside his two assists this season, he has 18 goal contributions in just as many games. His incredible form this season is one of the main reasons behind Fiorentina doing well. The club is currently in sixth place and is competing for a spot in Europe.

Dusan Vlahovic’s days at Fiorentina are numbered

The 21-year-old was given Fiorentina’s largest ever contract offer in hopes of extending his stay. However, he ended up rejecting the deal and will be leaving the club soon. His current contract expires in 2023, and Fiorentina will be looking to sell him in the summer of 2022 at the latest.

Juventus, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham are interested in signing the player. The Violets have set a €70 million price tag for him in the January transfer window. So, it will be difficult for clubs to pay that kind of money in the middle of the season.

At the end of the season, though, it could be a very different story. He will be considered as an alternative to Erling Haaland by several clubs. The fee demanded could also be lower in six months’ time, and we could see other top clubs joining the race as well.
