NorthEast United 2-0 SC East Bengal: 3 talking points from the one-sided result

NorthEast United defeated SC East Bengal 2-0 in the ISL to climb up the table and into 7th place. Here are the three key talking points from the game.

One-sided affair for NorthEast United

The Highlanders ran the game from start to finish, and it almost seems like the Red and Gold club didn’t turn up for the fixture. NorthEast United had 14 total shots, with equal attempts on and off target.

On the other hand, SC East Bengal had only four shots on target with three on goal. They failed to create any meaningful opportunities, which was the talking point from a very frustrating evening.

SC East Bengal’s squad woes

Continuing from the fact that it was a very frustrating match for East Bengal, Antonio Perosevic’s emotions were on display. The forward got sent off in the final minutes of the game and will SC East Bengal’s next game.

Franjo Prce had to be taken off before the first cooling break due to injury. The Croatian has been a regular under Jose Manuel Diaz, and will be a big loss to the team considering their poor defensive performances this term.

The wait for a first win goes on

Things are not looking good for SC East Bengal, as the wait for their first three points of the season continues into their 8th game of the season. They are the only club not to win a single game yet this year, and are rooted to the bottom of the table.

At this stage, it seems like they will be worse off than they were last year, when the season is over.
