Virat Kohli told BCCI that he won’t be available for the India vs South Africa ODI series. Is he upset for being sacked as a captain?

It is important to note that Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s daughter Vamika will turn one on January 11, 2022. Sources in the know of developments confirmed to ANI that Kohli has indeed asked the board for a small break in January next year.

As per sources “Yes, Kohli has asked for a small break in January to spend some time with his family. It effectively means that he would miss the ODI series against South Africa,

Rohit Sharma had withdrawn himself from the test series after an injury. BCCI stated that ‘Rohit sustained a left hamstring injury & will not be available for the 3 match test series’

Virat and Rohit are going to be unavailable for the respective formats but it doesn’t have anything to do with the white-ball captaincy. Though some speculations say Virat Kohli wasn’t surprised when he was removed from the captaincy.

Virat was removed as the ODI captain last week and replaced by Rohit Sharma. He’s likely to skip ODI series. Rohit Sharma was named India’s white-ball caption, Kohli hasn’t reacted nor has he released any statement.

Kohli is active on social media but hasn’t written anything about this matter. According to reports, ‘he was taken aback with the development’.

No status has been shared on the seriousness of Rohit’s injury. Sources in BCCI informed that he will be available for the ODI series.

“His injury should heal in 3 weeks time. He should be available to lead India in the ODI’s”, informed the BCCI official.

The developments may result in a broken relationship between the two biggest cricketers of India. After Virat announced his retirement from captaincy, post three months, BCCI replaced Kohli with Rohit Sharma in T20Is.

Next day BCCI’s president Ganguly stated that he had personally spoken with Kohli about the issue.
