Premier League fixture roundup 11 December 2021

Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool all won their games through penalties in the Premier League. Here’s what went down in their respective games.

Premier League Penalty Fest as Big Teams Scrape Through

Norwich City 0-1 Manchester United

Ralf Rangnick’s men snatched a late win at Norwich City, and it was a familiar name that won the game for them. Who else but Cristiano Ronaldo? David De Gea was in form and denied the home team a number of chances to take the points themselves.

Manchester City 1-0 Wolves

Raheem Sterling scored his 100th Premier League goal from the spot as Manchester City defeated 10-man Wolves. Raul Jimenez was sent off after two yellow cards within seconds of each other, and Wolves had to try and make something out of the game by playing with 10 men. But City ultimately found a way out even if it was just one goal between them.

Liverpool 1-0 Aston Villa

Much like their rivals, Liverpool scored the only goal of the game from the spot as well. Mohamed Salah beat Emiliano Martinez from the spot to spoil Steven Gerrard’s return to Anfield. He now has 14 goals this season and is leading the race for the Golden Boot.

Arsenal 3-0 Southampton

Goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel spelled out a comfortable win for the Gunners as they returned to winning ways. They are now in sixth place, and have turned things around well from the start of their season.

Chelsea 3-2 Leeds United

Chelsea were far from their best but took advantage of errors from Leeds to scrape through. Jorginho converted both penalties earned by Antonio Rudiger to hand his team the win. The two rivals had a very heated game, with both teams fighting hard to earn all three points. And despite their recent lapse in defensive record, Chelsea came away with the win.
