The Champions League is the most prestigious club competition, with every top club competing to win the title every year. In this article, we will see which countries have the highest goalscorers in the competition. 

5. Argentina – 578 goals

Argentina kick off the list, with Lionel Messi scoring 123 goals out of Argentina’s 578 Champions League goals. The likes of Paulo Dybala, Lautaro Martinez and Mauro Icardi are among the other prolific goalscorers in the competition. 

4. Germany – 580 goals 

With two goals clear of Argentina, Germany are in fourth place. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have been the flag bearers for German football in the competition for a very long time. Thomas Muller is the top German goalscorer in the Champions League, with 49 to his name.  

3. France – 763 goals 

The top three is in a league of its own. France have scored 763 total Champions League goals. Karim Benzema leads the top goalscorer race so far, with 76. Given the consistent production of top-tier talent, France will surely climb the ranks in the years to come. 

2. Spain – 767 goals 

Real Madrid and Barcelona have dominated Europe in their time, and have produced a number of top goalscorers. The top Spanish goalscorer is Real Madrid legend Raul, with 76, he ranks fifth in the top Champions League goalscorers list.

Brazil are the highest scoring nation in the competition, almost 200 goals clear of Spain.

Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Neymar have been Brazil’s top talents in the Champions League over the years. The likes of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Gabriel Jesus are now expected to inherit their legacy and carry it forward in the upcoming years.
