Qualcomm is set to introduce its new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 any day now

Qualcomm is expected to introduce the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 any day now, and leaked slides showcasing the forthcoming chipset’s performance and power-efficiency enhancements give proof that the SoC’s launch is imminent. While the corporation prepares the official statement, let us go through what additional changes we may anticipate, so let us get started.

Let’s start with the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 according to the leaked slides supplied by VideoCardz. In comparison to the Snapdragon 888, the current-generation flagship SoC, its immediate successor will have a CPU that is 20% quicker and 30% more power-efficient.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen1 will also include a fourth-generation Adreno GPU, which is expected to be 30% quicker and consume 25% less power than the previous iteration.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen1 might enhance GPU performance by up to 60% in Vulkan. Though the leaked slides do not specify which 5G modem would be incorporated into the chipset, the 10Gbps downlink speeds and mmWave capabilities point to the Snapdragon X65, which Qualcomm unveiled a few months ago. The new chipset will also have an 18-bit ISP capable of processing 4096 times more camera data and capturing 240 12MP shots in one second.

According to the presentations, the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 can record 8K HDR video while also taking photos with maximum quality of 64MP. Smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s latest and best SoC will also support Wi-Fi 6E, and these devices may come standard with 4500mAh batteries and 65W charging capability.

It would be fascinating to see how this chipset performs, especially since MediaTek recently revealed their flagship Density 9000. Previously, MediaTek exclusively targeted the low-to-mid-range smartphone industry, but it appears that the business is now ready to compete with the heavyweights.
