Most expensive signings of the Premier League big six clubs

The big six of the Premier League are the most financially strong in England (bar Newcastle United). And over the years, they have spent a lot of money on players. In this article, we will talk about the most expensive signings made by the Premier League big six.

Tottenham Hotspur – Tanguy Ndombele – €60m

Despite being one of the big six in the Premier League, Tottenham are not known for spending a lot of money on transfers. Their most expensive signing is Tanguy Ndombele, who was recruited in 2019. So far, he has failed to live up to the hype and still needs to win over the fans.

Arsenal – Nicolas Pepe – €80m

Nicolas Pepe was signed from Lille two years ago, and he has failed to make a strong impact so far. The winger has only scored 25 times in 98 appearances for the Gunners and being young, still has time to step up and improve his game.

Liverpool – Virgil van Dijk – €84.65m

Liverpool are known for having one of the best recruitment policies in the league. And the €84 million spent on Virgil Van Dijk might just be their best investment ever. The Dutch centre-back is among the best in the world and has helped the team win the Champions League, and Premier League.

Manchester United – Paul Pogba – €105m

Pogba joined Manchester United from Juventus and has been one of the most inconsistent players in the league. At times, the Frenchman is among the best in the world, and other times, that very thought seems highly questionable. He has six months on his contract left and could walk out for free in the summer.

Chelsea – Romelu Lukaku – €115m

Romelu Lukaku returned to Chelsea from Inter this summer, and the Blues broke their transfer record for Kai Havertz after only a year. The Belgian is currently out injured and will add a new dimension to the attack when he returns.

Manchester City – Jack Grealish – €117.5m

Manchester City paid Grealish’s £100 million release clause to sign him from Aston Villa this summer. He is the most expensive English player in football, and it will be very interesting to see how his time under Pep Guardiola pans out.
