Manchester United were defeated in humiliating fashion by newly promoted Watford 4-1 at Vicarage Road. The visitors were down a man for the last twenty minutes of the game.

Harry Maguire was sent off for a second yellow, and this resulted in two more goals being conceded in extra time. During the initial stages of the game, Manchester United conceded a penalty. David De Gea prevented the opposition from scoring the first time, as well as during the retake.

Watford would then open the scoring for good, as Joshua King netted shortly before the half-hour mark. Just before the break, Ismaila Sarr doubled the lead of the Hornets, with extra pressure already on the team.

Manchester United have now lost four of their last five games in the Premier League:

❌ 2-4 vs. Leicester
❌ 0-5 vs. Liverpool
✅ 3-0 vs. Tottenham
❌ 0-2 vs. Man City
❌ 1-4 vs. Watford

Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay were subbed off for Anthony Martial and Donny Van de Beek respectively at half time. The Dutchman had his name sung during the first half of the game by the travelling fans.

After being brought on, he would go on to score the only goal for the Red Devils. However, a solitary fighting chance was taken away when Watford netted in quick succession past the 90th minute to win the game in remarkable fashion.

Emmanuel Dennis of Watford would provide two assists and score the final goal of the game. The pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjær is mounting even more, with huge games against Chelsea and Villarreal up next.

The Hornets on the other hand, are now 16th in the table with a huge win against the Red Devils in the Premier League.
