Top 5 things Rahul Dravid wants from the Indian cricket team

The Indian T20 team is all set to be in a new zone as Rahul Dravid became the new head coach and Rohit Sharma the new skipper. The new coach will be guiding the players and bringing about huge transformations. Hopefully, the Indian cricket team will have a good comeback from their 2021 T20 World Cup debacle. Dravid’s new tenure will begin from Wednesday as India is ready to face New Zealand In the 1st T20I in Jaipur. Rahul Dravid has included 5 points in a template to create a stronger team for the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Five things that will make the team victorious in T20 World Cup 2022

Having fearless attitude

Indian cricket players have often played the T20 format like ODI cricket. Rahul Dravid wants to break that and assert confidence and belief in players. he wants them to take risks and play dynamic cricket.

“It’s important, especially in this format, that sometimes you just need to go out there and play fearlessly and while doing that, there are chances that you might not always be successful because it’s a short format and you’re always challenged. The pressure is always there. We certainly will keep an eye on that aspect, ” said Rohit Sharma.

Bio-bubble fatigue

Dravid has addressed bio-bubble fatigue as well. Players like Mohammad Shami, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah have been given rest. On the other hand, a lot of Space has been given to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli so that there remains no place for physical and mental fatigue.

Having specialists for key roles

Rahul Dravid is keen to tap all the potential of different players, giving opportunities to every player.

Rohit Sharma said  “Template is a very important one and we need to set it right. There are holes in every team but you try and maximise what you have. I’m not going to say that we’re going to follow a certain team’s template. We have to create our own template, see what’s best and right for the team. We strictly want to assign roles that we want them to do because at the end of the day what they do here matters.”

Playing a team game

Rahul Dravid has always been a team player during his cricket playing days, he expects the same from the current cricket team as well. He has imbibed such values in U-19 and A teams. There’s such expectation from the senior team as well.

Long term planning for the team and individual careers

Rahul Dravid believes that it is important to find the perfect balance between the age group outfits and senior group outfits. The players need to be given a longer run of games. he will correct the plan for the long term for the team and players careers.

The Indian coach said, “Thinking long term and thinking about what’s in the future certainly is my job as a coach, and that won’t change irrespective of whichever team you’re coaching. You know we will think about the players’ long term careers and futures as well and keep that in mind and not prioritise their well being at any stage over, for sort of short term results.”
