Ole Gunnar Solskjær flies to Norway and gives team a week off amidst high pressure

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has given his backroom staff and players a week off, leaving for Norway with his family. The Manchester United boss left for his hometown Kristiansund on Monday despite the pressure he is currently under.

Brendan Rodgers has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Manchester United to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjær at some point in the future.

But, according to sources close to the club, the former striker’s job is not in danger. Once the international break is over, we can expect to see him back in charge as United face Watford. They will have a big challenge thereafter, as they travel to Stamford Bridge to face league leaders Chelsea.

A number of players have been called up for international duty from the squad. However, some notable names have stayed back as well. Marcus Rashford withdrew from the England squad due to his shoulder injury, and a flu. The number 10 has not played a full 90 minutes since returning, and intends to focus on his recovery during the break.

Mason Greenwood, Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw have also had to stay back and train at Carrington due to injury issues. Players like Dean Henderson, Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles, Jadon Sancho, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard have not been selected due to a lack of playing time.

The backroom staff, along with the player’s expected Solskjær to stay and train following the embarrassing derby defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City. The Norwegian has lost six of his last twelve games in charge, and has had to face a lot of pressure over his future as a result.
