Barcelona want Arsenal’s Lacazette in January; €10m asking price

Barcelona are in search of a centre forward in January, with Sergio Aguero struggling with injuries. Most recently, the Argentinian had to be taken off in Sergi Barjuan’s first game in charge. He has been diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia, which is a heart rhythm disorder.

Luuk De Jong was signed as a replacement for Antoine Griezmann in the summer, who returned to Atletico Madrid. The former Sevilla striker has found it very hard to adapt at Barcelona. He is expected to leave Camp Nou at the earliest. Since he is on loan from Sevilla, he will be able to return to them in January if Barcelona terminate his loan spell then.

With two strikers proving ineffective at the club, Barcelona will turn to the transfer market in search of a better option. Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette is one of the targets that is being linked with a move.

The Frenchman’s contract with Arsenal expires in June 2022, and the London club are determined to not lose him for free. As a result, they would be willing to accept a fee worth €10 million for Lacazette.

The 30-year-old was a target for Barcelona during his time with Lyon. However, he joined Arsenal in 2017 for a record fee at the time. The player’s time at the Emirates has not gone as expected, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leading the line more often.

Raheem Sterling of Manchester City, and RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo are two of the other rumoured targets for Barcelona. However, due to their financial situation, they will be restricted to signing one player only in January. And we will have to wait till the transfer window opens to see who it will be.
