The Champions League is the most prestigious competition in the world, and has seen some of the best talent. So, here are the highest scoring players in every position in the competition. 

GK | Hans Jorg Butt, Games: 62, Goals: 3

Ramos guided Real Madrid to four Champions League victories, and lifted the trophies as the captain of the club. The player is now expected to feature for PSG, his new club in the Champions League. 

CB | Gerard Pique, Games: 122, Goals: 16 

Pique most recently scored the winner against Dynamo Kiev in the competition. The Barcelona centre-back has established an outstanding legacy with his boyhood club, and has also lifted the trophy with Manchester United. 

LB | Roberto Carlos, Games: 120, Goals: 16 

Roberto Carlos is an undisputed legend of football, and is arguably the greatest left-back ever. The Brazilian has scored 16 goals from defense, featuring mostly for Real Madrid for a decade. 

CM | Paul Scholes, Games: 124, Goals: 24 

Paul Scholes is one of the greatest passers in the history of the Premier League. The Manchester United legend has won the title twice with the Red Devils. 

RW | Lionel Messi, Games: 152, Goals: 123 

Messi most recently scored his first two goals for PSG, after leaving Barcelona in the summer. The six-time Ballon d’Or award winner is the second highest scorer of all time in the Champions League. 

LW | Cristiano Ronaldo, Games: 180, Goals: 139 

Mr. Champions League still wins games late for Manchester United in the competition. He has lifted the trophy with both the Red Devils, and Real Madrid, and is the highest scorer of all time in the top tier of Europe. 

CAM | Thomas Muller, Games: 128, Goals: 49 

Thomas Muller has won the Champions League title twice with Bayern Munich, and is the highest scoring midfielder of all time in the competition. Raumdeuter is a unique player and continues to help Bayern Munich be a force to be reckoned with. 

ST | Robert Lewandowski, Games: 100, Goals: 81

Robert Lewandowski most recently scored a double to take his goal tally up to 81 in 100 games. He has scored the most goals of any player after 100 games in the competition, and is arguably one of the best strikers in the world. 

ST | Karim Benzema, Games: 134, Goals: 75 

Karim Benzema has become the focus of Real Madrid’s attack, and has been the number 9 at the Spanish club for close to a decade. The Frenchman is a clinical and dangerous finisher, which makes him a big threat for any opposition.
