Anwar Ali is expected to continue his career with FC Goa, and return to the top tier. After the detection of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. He was barred by AIFF from competing in 2019. But, he has now been cleared by the Delhi High Court and AIFF Medical Committee.

The player is currently under contract with Delhi FC, owned by his mentor Ranjit Bajaj. He will be able to sign with Goa when the transfer window opens on January 1.

“Anwar Ali will join FC Goa. However, he will have to wait till January 2022 to move, as the transfer window is currently shut. Delhi FC and the Gaurs have agreed terms on an 18-month loan deal. He will hence remain with Juan Ferrando and co till the end of the 2022-23 season,” said officials in quotes carried by Khel Now.

Goa plan to register Ali as soon as the transfer window. They want him in the squad to take on Kerala Blasters on January 2. They were the only club in contact with him, because they need a ball-playing defender.

He was very impressive in the U-17 World Cup in 2017, and played every minute for India. At the time, he was a regular for Indian Arrows in the I-League. However, the medical problems hindered his progress massively.

Ali has been playing local leagues in Delhi, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. He has gone two seasons without playing top-flight football. But, will return to the ISL when the transfer window opens.
