Intel is back in the game again against AMD with all the new ultra-sharped weapons, including the 12th Gen Intel Core desktop processors and the new 600 series chipset – Intel z690. The company added far more advanced features inside the z690 to get better reliability and performance.

New PCIe Gen 4.0 lanes make for 28 total lanes off the chipset, integrated USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 provides up to double the bandwidth, DMI Gen 4.0 increases the chipset to CPU throughput for fast access to peripheral devices and networking.

Intel fans are getting an opportunity to enjoy the Volume Management Device (VMD) for the first time on PC chipsets. It actually simplifies the storage control by providing both direct control and management of NVMe-based SSDs from the PCIe bus and no further need for RAID controllers or other hardware adaptors.

The z690 also adopts Intel’s performance hybrid architecture with Performance cores or P-cores and Efficient-core or E-cores. The P-cores are there to take care of high-performance gaming with single and lightly threaded performance. The E-cores, on the other hand, handle heavy jobs like streaming, recording, and multitasking.

Alongside the storage and normal performance, other parts like connectivity of Wi-Fi 6E, graphics, and overclocking are also taken care of for this chipset.
