The winners of the Copa America and Euros will now face off against each other in the Copa Euro America. The first edition of the game is set to pit current European Champions Italy against South American champions Argentina.

The two clubs will meet in June 2022 and the stadium is yet to be decided for the game. UEFA has announced the game officially, and the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples is one of the contenders to host the fixture.

Holding the game in the home stadium of Napoli would be symbolic since Maradona most prominently played club football for Napoli. The home stadium of the Azzurri was renamed after him when he passed away in November last year. With his country, Argentina, winning the Copa, it could be a great tribute to the legendary player.

The trophy was also rumoured to be named after the great Argentinian player, but has now been scrapped. The new cup comes during times where FIFA is planning to hold the World Cup every two years, but the governing bodies in Europe and South America are not willing to participate in it. However, Arsene Wenger is still working to try and make it happen despite the protests against it.

The Copa America victory for Argentina was the first international trophy lifted by Lionel Messi in his prolific career. On the other hand, Italy lifted the Euros after over 50 years since they last won it, defeating England at Wembley in the finals of the competition.
