Juventus record highest losses in Serie A history as per financial report

Juventus have reported a loss worth €210 million for the 2020/21 financial year. They have mainly attributed the pandemic situation as the reason behind the massive fall in revenue.

Ticket sales fell by €41 million during the past season. Despite there being some form of blanket in the form of TV earnings, the total losses were still greater than 19/20. In fact, the loss amount was twice as much as the previous year since there were no fans allowed in the stadiums throughout the campaign.

The Bianconeri were counting on the European Super League project to help them out on the financial front. However, nine of the 12 teams pulled out within a few days of the project being announced. Currently, only Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus remain in favour of having the tournament since they believe the boosted income is necessary for the clubs to survive.

The loss figure posted by Juventus is the highest ever in the history of Serie A, even more than Inter’s €204 million from fifteen years ago, and Roma’s €206 million in 19/20. The club expects the debts to start being covered from the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign.

Fans are now being allowed inside stadiums in Italy, and the revenue from ticket sales is slowly starting to come back in for all the teams. They have not enjoyed a good start to the season, though, and are yet to win their first game of the new season.
