TP-Links Archer GX90 tri-band Wi-Fi gaming router announced at CES 2020 has finally arrived

Get ready gamers, because one of the most awaited products of this year and the year before is finally here. Yes, we are talking about the TP-Link’s Archer GX90, an AX6600 tri-band Wi-Fi gaming router. This particular piece of technology was first announced at CES back in January 2020 and is now officially here.

The Wi-Fi gaming router brings some of the notable upgrades over TP-Link’s Archer C5400X, which is currently one of the best routers for gaming, and a potentially attractive $250 MSRP.

This router offers up to three separate bands and SSIDs that can be connected to your device and they include a 2.4GHz band with a theoretical maximum throughput of 574Mbps, a 5GHz band rated to deliver up to 1,201Mbps of throughput, and another 5GHz band that expands into a 160MHz channel width.

There is one particular feature that falls under the marketing fluff category is “Game Protector.” this belongs to TP-Link’s HomeCare package, which itself is a combination of a built-in antivirus scanner, QoS triggers, and parental controls.

In terms of wired connections, the GX90 offers up a single 2.5Gbps LAN port and three 1Gbps LAN ports. The router also has a USB 3.0 port and a USB 2.0 port to share external storage or a printer over your network.

If the information from the manufacturer is to be believed then the GX90 should cover a large area and its design is simply fabulous as it comes with eight chunky external antennas. This reminds us of some of the Asus ROG Rapture models, none of which are inconspicuous.

We expect the router to perform as best as it looks and hopefully it won’t disappoint as this could be a viable option, especially considering that several models with similar specs cost quite a bit more, like Netgear’s AX6600 ($330) and the Asus RT-AX88U ($290).
