MediaTek will unveil a new chipset of the Kompanio series on September 9

The Taiwan based chipset maker MediaTek is expanding its portfolio on and regular basis and now the company has confirmed to host an event this week. MediaTek has officially confirmed to host an event on September 9 and the company has confirmed to launch a new processor in the Kompanio series.

At the moment, the company has not revealed what the final name for this SoC will be, but it will replace the current Kompanio series chipset MediaTek Kompanio 1300T, a processor that has already been assembled by tablets from well-known firms such as Honor and Xiaomi.

In order to roughly form an idea of ​​the capabilities of the new solution, you can evaluate the 1300T – it uses four “large” Cortex-A78 cores and four “small” Cortex-A55. The platform integrates the Mali G-77 MC9 GPU, which is superior to the Mali G57 MC5 featured in the outdated Kompanio 1200.

We can only guess about the characteristics of the new solution, but it is known that the Kompanio 1300T has an integrated 5G modem with support for two SIM cards and mobile operators. It also provides support for two displays with a resolution of up to 1080p, or up to 1440p for a single display with a refresh rate up to 120 Hz and support for HDR10 + video.

The variant is capable of working with cameras with a resolution of up to 108 megapixels and recording video in 4K, at a speed of up to 60 frames per second. The integrated APU supports features such as AI Picture Quality (AI-PQ) and voice command processing.

Therefore, given the specifications of the previous generation, everything indicates that the new chipset of the Kompanio series will incorporate important improvements in terms of performance and capabilities and, in this way, It can be incorporated into equipment from different companies, offering a good cost-power ratio.

In addition, according to Gizmochina, MediaTek is also working on its new generation of the chipset of the Dimensity series aimed at smartphones. This could be called MediaTek Dimensity 2000 and would be the first processor on the market to be manufactured with 4nm lithography.
