RB Leipzig have confirmed the departure of Alexander Sorloth to Real Sociedad on an initial loan deal. The German side will receive an initial €2 million as a loan fee for the striker.

Sociedad have the option to buy the player for €25 million once the player completes his loan deal with the Spanish side. The Norwegian joined Leipzig for €20 million last year, but only scored 6 goals in 37 games for the club. With Leipzig also signing Andre Silva as the main striker this summer, they have decided to move Sorloth on so that he can have game time.

Ligue 1 club Marseille were also interested in signing Sorloth, but the player wanted to move to Spain. Adam Ounas is now the replacement for Sorloth in the transfer list, and the player is pushing to join them as well.

Moving to his new club, Sorloth will be the replacement for Willian Jose, who will join Real Betis soon. Sociedad will be expecting to challenge for European spots this year, and the presence of the 25-year-old will be a big boost to their chances of getting into continental competitions.

The Norwegian has a unique profile for a striker, and is more of a creator than an orthodox number nine. He creates 3.64 shot creating actions per 90, and takes over 7 touches per 90 in the opposition box, which is more than 90% of strikers in top leagues.

Alongside talented youngster and namesake Alexander Isak, they could establish a great strike partnership to get the much-needed goals.
