Barcelona to announce Lionel Messi contract renewal during the Joan Gampar trophy

The biggest concern for Barça fans during this entire summer transfer window was regarding the contract renewal of Lionel Messi. However, Cules could breathe a sigh of relief as the Barça board has the intention to make an official announcement of Messi’s contract renewal as soon as possible.

The club wanted to make this announcement within the next 48 hours so that Messi would deliver a speech before Barca’s match against Juventus for the Joan Gamper trophy. Moreover, the club wants to confirm this deal quickly so that they could add Lionel Messi along with this window’s transfer signings like Eric Garcia, Sergio Aguero, and Memphis Depay to the new squad for this season.

Fans would wonder how did the club manage to make arrangements for Messi’s contract. All credit goes to an investment company called CVC Capital Partners. This company invested €2.7 billion in exchange for 10% ownership of La Liga. Moreover, the money invested by CVC will be distributed among all clubs according to their TV deals. Hence Real Madrid and Barcelona made the most profit by taking a majority of cash. Consequently, Barça was able to handle the Messi contract situation without any problems.
