Lava plans to make comeback in the smartphone market with 5G device, smartwatch in the works as well

Post the launch of their Probuds TWS earbuds, India-based phone manufacturer Lava is looking to launch its 5G smartphone in the country, it will also launch a smartwatch alongside it. Lava is eyeing a release date around Diwali.

The company’s product head Tejinder Singh also confirmed that the brand is working towards releasing its first 5G devices, around Diwali with a new technology that will be unique to Lava devices only.

Lava intends to launch one 5G smartphone with top-notch features and will be priced in between 17,000-20,000 INR.

Lava is in discussion with Indian telecom operators for opportunities to enter the market together. Lava has discussed how their handset can fit in the telecom operators ecosystem, apart from this Lava is also working on launching its first 5G smartphone in the country. The watch is also slated to launch during Diwali.

Lava is also planning to enter into new countries like Latin America, they are currently operating in more than 20 countries and are looking to venture out into Southeast Asian countries and some African countries as well.

Lava is currently in talks with distributors from these countries. Lava expects to gain a 10% market share this year, they currently have a little over 20% share in a feature phone, but they expect their Research and Development team to develop smartphones that will assist them in achieving their 10% market share soon.
