Top 10 football players with the most trophies won in the 21st century

Lionel Messi recently won his first international title for Argentina with the 2021 Copa America, defeating Brazil in the finals. He now has 38 titles and is only one short of Andres Iniesta, who has won 39 titles throughout his career. Let’s find out where they rank in the all-time top ten list of players with the most number of trophies. 

=9. Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 32 titles

Ibrahimovic is still playing in Europe at 39, and by the time he is 40, he will feature in the Champions League for Milan. The striker can still add to his tally and overtake the next member on the list.

The Wizard of Netherlands and Bayern Munich won every club trophy there is to win with Bayern Munich, and currently features for his boyhood club, Groningen in the Eredivisie.

8. Sergio Busquets – 34 titles

The Barcelona legend added to his tally most recently with their Copa del Rey victory, and now sits in 8th place among the most decorated players of all time. He is one of the few to have truly won it all. 

7. Cristiano Ronaldo – 35 titles

While CR7 missed out on the Euros, he recently won the Coppa Italia with Juventus to launch him clear into seventh ahead of Sergio Busquets.

Much like his teammate, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique is a Barcelona and Spain legend who has won it all for both club and country. He still has numerous years left on his contract and could climb even higher on the list by the time he’s done.

=4. Hossam Ashour – 37 titles

Ashour is an Egyptian defensive midfielder, who has featured for El Ahly for 16 years and joined El Ittihad in 2020. He is a 13-time Egyptian champion and at 35, could still earn more trophies.

Brazilian left-back Maxwell has featured for some of the biggest clubs in Europe with FC Barcelona, Ajax, Inter Milan and PSG on his CV and won everything there is to win throughout his club career. 

3. Lionel Messi – 38 titles

Messi was joint-fourth before he won the Copa America, and won two trophies in a season with the Copa del Rey. With the Argentinian set to sign a five-year contract, he could get 40 by the time he reaches the end of his deal. 

2. Andres Iniesta – 39 titles

Iniesta is a Spain and Barcelona legend and is still winning trophies with Vissel Kobe in Japan. He has three years left on his current deal and will surely hit 40 in the next year or so. 

1. Dani Alves – 42 titles

Featuring for Barcelona, Juventus, PSG and now, Sao Paulo in Brazil, Dani Alves has the most number of trophies in this list and is the only man to have more than 40 in the 21st century.
