Huawei denied the fact that Nokia X60 and X60 Pro may come with HarmonyOS

Seeking even more space in the smartphone market, Nokia has been developing affordable and reformulated models to meet different niches. Recently, information emerged that the company intends to launch, in 2021, a new line of cell phones made up of two devices with top-of-the-line features: Nokia X60 and X60 Pro.

Yesterday, a rumor hit the mill that an upcoming Nokia smartphone might use Huawei’s new Harmony OS2.0, at least in China. No Google services are allowed in China and Harmony OS on smartphones shares the same foundation with Android, so being part of that ecosystem in the Chinese market, at least to me, makes sense, but Huawei officially denied that this is going to happen. Huawei, meanwhile, spoke in an interview with China’s international news portal, Global Times, claiming that the news about a Nokia phone with HarmonyOS is false.

We can only wait for the appearance of more news regarding Nokia’s plans for this year. Certainly, the new smartphones X60 and X60 Pro will come with Android 11, now that the possibility of HarmonyOS is out of the question. Other details such as chipset and RAM are still unknown.

Nokia regains market visibility as it develops affordable smartphones and contributes to the entry-level cellphone niche with models redesigned to meet different audience demands, such as the Nokia 110 4G.

With this, it was revealed that the company will make available a new line of smartphones with top-of-the-line technical specifications. The Nokia X60 and Nokia X60 Pro are expected to be launched later this year with outstanding features, such as the presence of Harmony OS, the new operating system developed by Huawei.

The rumor that mentioned Harmony on the upcoming Nokia X60 (Pro) flagship, also included info like a 200MP rear camera, 6000mAh battery, or 144Hz display that should be packed into the device. Global Times reached out to Huawei for a comment on the rumor that an upcoming Nokia device will run Harmony, and the Chinese tech giant said that the reports are false.

Information about the chipset is still unknown, but devices at this level should receive recent and high-performance processors, as well as contemplating 5G connectivity.
