Norway about to boycott FIFA World Cup held in 2022 in their protest against human rights violation

Norway can be banned from the 2026 FIFA World Cup if they boycott the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar next year. The entire Norwegian squad is preparing to boycott the upcoming world cup in Qatar as a sign of protest against human rights violation in Qatar.

Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, Norwegian national team captain Martin Ødegaard and the rest of the squad wore shirts with the message “human rights – on and off the pitch” during their warmup before the games.

According to several reports, nearly 6500 foreign workers since 2010 have died out of which 37 passed away while building a stadium for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

In Norway national Football team’s protest against this violation of human rights in Qatar, they had threatened to withdraw themselves from the 2022 World Cup to be held in Qatar.

However, the final decision regarding Norway’s participation will be taken this weekend by the NFF. FIFA has threatened Norway to banish them from the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be held throughout North America along with a 40000 Swiss Francs fine.

Other than that FIFA are threatening the Norway Football Federation to cut back its funding and forgo its grants toward the NFF given if they fail to participate in the upcoming world cup to be held in Qatar.
