Intel announces the soon release of its Iris Xe-HPG DG2 integrated GPU

It’s no secret that Intel will be launching its first-ever mainstream gaming GPUs sometime this year, and now we have some performance standards which could give you an idea of what Xe-HPG DG2 GPU could bring. The reliable tipster @TUM_APISAK has recently shared the performance metrics you can expect from an Intel gaming GPU.

In the leaked PCB design of the upcoming GPU, we did get some specs of the upcoming Intel DG2 graphics that is said to sport up to 512 EUs, 4096 Shaders, 16/8 GB GDDR6 memory and 256-bit memory bus. This is the top tier Intel DG2 specs and by the looks of it is expected to be a great mid-range, not a top tier one.

Now, @TUM_APISAK has given us a performance perspective of Intel DG2 graphics with 448EUs and having 1.80 GHz clock speeds. It looks like this GPU could be a mid-range offering which could also challenge the current RTX 3070 and RX 6700 XT.

Yes! 6700XT
6700XT is a new card
With a small amount of test results
May have a slight impact on % (2-3%)
and it just one benchmark
maybe not reflex to real performance

Obviously, do take the results with a pinch of salt as the benchmarks or rumours could not be spot-on, however, does give a fair idea about the upcoming GPUs. However, this does raise some questions and confusions regarding the 512EU card and this 448EU variant.

If Intel doesn't change much about their engine structure, then DG2 may use 32 Subslices with 16 EUs each.
For 448 EUs they would need to disable 2 EUs per Subslice, so 32×14 = 448/3584 Shader ALUs.
3584 ALUs @ 1.8 GHz = 12.90 TF.
6700XT => 2560 ALUs @ 2.531 GHz = 12.96 TF.

To clarify this, @Locuza rose to the occasion to give a good explanation that a 448EU variant is possible using a step-down version of the original 512EU variant. This DG2 may use 32 subslices with 16 EUs each and disabling 2EUs per subslice to make an effective 448EUs or 3584 Shader units.
