Cristiano Ronaldo pondering a return to Manchester United this summer

Cristiano Ronaldo has only one year left on his current deal with Juventus and according to reports in Italy, has contacted Manchester United regarding a return to the club. The Portuguese winger spent six years at Old Trafford and finished his spell in England as one of the best players in the league.

He eventually earned his first Ballon d’Or and a world-record move to Real Madrid. The rest, as they say, is history.

Ronaldo has spoken to Max Allegri since his reappointment, and further talks will continue once the Euros conclude. Paris Saint-Germain are the only other club that can possibly account for the player’s massive wages throughout the season.

This is also the reason why a move away is difficult, and why Manchester United are unlikely to want to have him back. They are in a dire financial condition themselves, and would not want to risk a heavy short-term investment like CR7, who would no doubt want to be the best-paid player in the club.

Ronaldo finished as the top scorer in Serie A this past season and netted 36 goals in 44 games across all competitions for the Bianconeri. While they missed out on the league title for the first time after nine years, they won the Coppa Italia against Atalanta in the finals.

The 5-time Ballon d’Or winner has long been linked with a move away from Turin, and all will become clearer after the Euros.
