The IT giant International Business Machines Corp or IBM in short is going to start a new office in Kochi in the coming days. And post the Covid situation, it will get the new company name Kyndryl. In simple words, the IBM name in Kochi will be there for the next few months more.
IBM’s managed infrastructure services business is going to be an independent brand with the name Kyndryl. The headquarter of this new company will be in New York. It will work with IBM’s infrastructure business areas and enable focusing opportunities, for IBM itself, on Cloud service and Artificial Intelligence fields. It can take the whole of this year to complete the full transaction.
A senior official with IBM’s corporate communications team informed that the name at the time of opening will be IBM in Kochi and shared an FAQ that reads, “Throughout 2021, and until the spin, IBM will continue to invest in Kyndryl to ensure that it maintains its leadership position in the market and can capitalize on the changes taking place to innovate in managed services”.
A source aware of this matter said, “IBM India is expected to open their larger office during Q2 or Q3 of the current financial year. But, by the time IBM India will be spun-off into a separate company with a new name. Hence, you will in effect not get to see the name IBM on the signboards in Kochi,”
