Real Madrid name their price for Eden Hazard

Real Madrid are reportedly up for parting with Eden Hazard, following the player’s continuous unprofessionalism at the club. The board is understood to be fed up with the Belgian’s repeated injuries and his inability to perform on the pitch in the big games.

Los Merengues were recently dumped out of the Champions League by Hazard’s former club, Chelsea. The winger was notably invisible on the pitch, and barely created enough chances or got around to shooting himself.

If that wasn’t enough to provoke Real Madrid fans, the player was photographed joking around with former teammate Kurt Zouma after the match. While Hazard has issued a formal apology regarding the issue, Spanish publication ABC news reports that Real Madrid are willing to sell Hazard this summer.

The 30-year-old has 3 years left on his current contract, and Real Madrid are still paying installments for the player’s €160 million transfer. They have apparently decided to cut their losses, and listen to bids in the region of €50 million for the player.

Hazard has faced 11 injuries since arriving at his ‘dream club’, and has been nothing of his former self. He has been criticised time and time again for his attitude at the club, and it seems like Real Madrid’s patience has finally run out with their record signing. In the 40 games that he has featured, he has only scored four and assisted seven. His ability to perform magically on the pitch, as he did at Chelsea, is also nowhere to be found.

Given the current financial climate, it will be interesting to see who steps up to take a gamble on the lacklustre forward. Things could still turn around for the Belgian, but his time could be running out quick if things don’t change for the better.
