Spotify founder Daniel Ek considering buying Arsenal

Over the last few days, protests regarding a change in ownership for a number of Premier League clubs have become regular. Apart from Manchester City and Chelsea, all of the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ fans are having to endure such uprisings from fans.

The struggles of Manchester United, Spurs and Liverpool have been quite well documented with the Glazers, Daniel Levy and FSG being asked to leave very categorically by the fans. Arsenal fans, similarly, are asking for Stan Kroenke to sell the club.

The main reason behind these mass protests is due to their involvement in the proposed European Super League. The fans were outraged following the selfish schemes that the owners of the club agreed to, endangering the future of the sport in itself.

Spotify founder Daniel Ek is one of those willing to take the responsibility of the ownership of the club off Kroenke. Here is what the man himself had to say via Twitter,  ‘As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for @Arsenal as long as I can remember. If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I’d be happy to throw my hat in the ring.”

According to Forbes, Daniel Ek’s personal worth is about £4.7 billion which is less than that of Kroenke.

While the Super League fiasco has ignored the spark of dissent among fans, the fuel is the years of mismanagement and lack of experience that have reduced Arsenal’s status considerably amongst the big names in the league. The lack of investment in the club is another reason why the change in ownership is so strongly called for.
