Apple launches new 24-inch iMac with the new M1 chip, starts at ₹ 1,19,900

The Cupertino giant has finally announced its new much-rumored 24-inch iMac with Apple’s revolutionary M1 chip based on a 5nm process. The new iMac is one the most stunning iMac ever as it comes with a revolutionary design yet is one of the most powerful device, keeping all the functionalities you expect from an iMac.

Even though we heard a lot of rumors about Apple making a custom M1X or M2 or some kind of improved chip for iMac but it is keeping trust on its last year announced M1 chip based on 5nm process and obviously the ARM architecture.

The M1 chip still comes with 8-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, now you can either choose for a 7-core GPU or an 8-core one. You also have up to 16GB unified memory and up to 2TB of SSD storage.

It features a stunning 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with 4480×2520 resolution at 218 pixels per inch with support for 1 billion colors. The screen gives you up to a max of 500 nits of peak brightness, covering P3 wide color gamut whereas the True Tone technology automatically adjusts the color temperature of your display to the ambient light of your environment.

The new 24-inch iMac supports full native resolution on the built-in display at 1 billion colors and one external display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz. Then you have Thunderbolt 3 digital video output and Native DisplayPort output over USB Type-C.

It’s good to see Apple has stuffed a 1080p FaceTime HD camera that works seamlessly with the M1 image signal processor. It doubles the resolution for higher-quality video calls, and the new sensor captures more light than before. Apple has also promised to equip these iMacs with a studio-quality three-mic array with high signal-to-noise ratio and directional beamforming, also support “Hey Siri.”

The 24-inch Apple iMac comes with a six-speaker sound system with force-canceling woofers and wide stereo sound Support for spatial audio when playing video with Dolby Atmos. For connectivity, you have both 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 wireless and Bluetooth 5.0 support.

Coming to ports, you have two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports with support for:

  • DisplayPort
  • Thunderbolt 3 (up to 40 Gbps)
  • USB 4 (up to 40 Gbps)
  • USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to 10 Gbps)
  • Thunderbolt 2, HDMI, DVI, and VGA supported using adapters (sold separately)

Then you also have a 3.5 mm headphone jack Gigabit Ethernet and up to two USB 3 ports (up to 10 Gbps). Coming to the input, Apple has given you the option of two keyboards this time – one with Touch ID and one without it.

So, overall, the new 24-inch iMac with the new M1 chip is a great promise for Apple and its hardware. It has a starting price of $1299 or ₹119900 in India and can be ordered from April 30 from Apple’s official site.
