TCL OLED TVs might arrive with a more affordable technology: Reports

TCL has announced recently that the company will officially start making its business in making OLED TVs. However, it has time to launch the TCL OLED TVs for the market as those are expected to arrive sometime in 2023. So, we’re almost two years ahead of getting the premium OLED TVs from TCL. But we need to address that very point that a better display comes with a higher price. So, it is important for the manufacturer to make those OLED TVs affordable for most of its buyers. So, the good thing is that TCL might use a new technology this time in its OLED TVs to make them more affordable.

In the general case, an OLED TV is pretty expensive if we compare it to a normal LCD or LED TV. When OLED TVs first hit the market, the price range of those TVs was really high. Years after years, more manufacturers started making OLED TVs and adopting the technology. So, the production rate was high, but then we thought that the price range will get lower, unfortunately, that didn’t happen. However, it will be harsh if we tell that price didn’t drop at all. It dropped but not by a large margin by which the OLED TVs become affordable.

Talking about the new technology that TCL will use in its OLED TVs or you can say an alternative method for OLED TVs, is called the ‘inkjet printed panels’ (IJP). This technology effectively prints OLED panels between panes of glass. It is quite different than we’ve seen the traditional ‘white OLED’ (WOLED) panels in today’s OLED TV sets. In terms of WOLED panels, the intensive production cost is pretty higher.
