Samsung unveils Galaxy XCover 5 rugged smartphone for £329

The South Korean smartphone manufacturer, Samsung, has launched the Galaxy XCover 5 rugged smartphone. It is the upgrade of the previous Galaxy XCover 4 which was launched in 2017.

The smartphone features a 5.3-inch HD+ TFT LCD and comes with a screen resolution of 1480 x 720 pixels. It is powered by Exynos 850 chipset and is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It is 172 grams heavy and measures 147.1 x 71.6 x 9.2 mm.

At the back, you will spot a single rear 16MP f/1.8 shooter with LED flash. To click selfies, Samsung offers you a 5MP f/2.2 sensor. Talking about the security of the device, it comes with Samsung Knox end-end encryption and the face unlock feature.

It houses a 3,000 mAh battery cell and is paired with 15W fast charging support. It runs on Android 11 OS and has other features like a USB-C port, POGO pins, dual-nano SIM with 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, 5GHz Wi-Fi, and NFC.

It is available in Graphite Black colour and no other fancy colour as it is a rugged smartphone. It has earned IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. Apart from that, it also has a Military standard certification (MIL-STD 810H). This certification means that the phone will survive even if it drops from a height of up to 1.5 metres.

Samsung has launched this device in only one variant, which has a RAM of 4 GB and internal storage of 64 GB. In the UK, it is priced at £329. The smartphone will be available in regions like Asia, Europe, and Latin America by the end of this month. The company has also announced that the devices will be available to be sell in offline Samsung Experience stores once the respective governments allow the shops to open.
