Sherlock Homes Spin-off ‘The Irregulars’ on Netflix: Everything we know so far

Sherlock Holmes, the world-famous iconic detective character who is always immortal in world literature, will get a life once again in a live-action form in the upcoming Netflix series The Irregulars. This story is created by the Oscar-nominated writer Tom Bidwell (Watership Down).

This movie will depict the story of the street kids in Conan Doyle’s canon and help Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson with their investigation. It has been informed that this series is going to hit on Netflix on March 26th, 2021.

The show has officially unveiled on Netflix in late February 2021. It has released some first look pictures and also its teaser trailer. The director of Endeavour, Johny Kenton, is also attached to the project and the short film director Weronika Tofilska.

On the working of The Irregulars, Bidwell has commented that it was his dream project and his oldest idea, and he couldn’t be more thrilled to be working on it with the team he had made with his dad Fat Diary with at the Drama Republic. Netflix has shown incredible support for their vision for the show, allowing them to be very ambitious with the way they were telling their stories.

The Irregulars: Plot

More information has not been given about the plot of this film since this is only an original work based on Arthur Conan Doyle’s characters. It is like the Enola Holmes book series by Nancy Springer which has adapted into a film on Netflix featuring Millie Bobbie Brown and Henry Cavill.

The Irregulars: Synopsis

It has set in Victorian London, the Irregulars has followed a gang of troubled delinquent teens who are included in solving criminal cases for the sinister Doctor Watson and his mysterious business partner. But day by day crimes take on a horrifying supernatural edge and a dark power that emerges, so that will depends on The Irregulars to come together and save London with each other and also the entire world.

The Irregulars: Cast

The iconic role of Baker Street duo of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson will be played by Henry-Lloyd Hughes (Indian Summers, killing Eve) and Royce Pierreson (The Witcher, Wanderlust). Another renowned Conan Doyle character will be played by Aidan McArdle (Sense8, The Fall). For the other role of The Irregulars themselves, they will be played by Thaddea Graham, Darci Shaw, McKell David, and Jojo Macari. In this Graham, Shaw, David and Macari will play the role of Bea, Jessie, Spike, and Billy and also Olivia Grant (Patricia Coleman-Jones), Harrison Ostertfield (Leopold), and Clarke Peters (Linen Man).

The first season of The Irregulars consists of 8 one hour episodes.

The Irregulars: Production Status

The production of the first season has started back in September 2019 and was halted in January 2020 as the lead actress was injured and after that, it was halted again in March 2020 due to the terrible pandemic situation and it was resumed in August and has wrapped up on September 16, 2020. The place of the productions is maximum in UK cities as Liverpool and Manchester.
