How Christian Eriksen forced Dele Alli to stay at Spurs this January

Christian Eriksen’s move from Tottenham Hotspur to Inter Milan has not really gone according to plan, with the Dane struggling to make a sure-shot starting berth during his time in Italy.

Eriksen was sure to leave the club and Inter CEO Beppe Marotta publicly acknowledged that he would be leaving during early December. Inter Milan’s financial situation is very complicated, with the salary problems yet to be fully sorted out.

They are trying to sell part of the club. Suning can’t go on because of government problems in China. Moreover, the club indulged in no new signings because of said financial problems.

In the case of Christian Eriksen, they asked for a loan fee and the full salary for Eriksen, which is a huge amount. Spurs were trying again and were in contact with Inter regarding their former player in an attempt to bring him back to the club. The main reason behind the pursuit of Eriksen was him being considered as a replacement for Dele Alli, who has been frozen out of the squad by Jose Mourinho.
