AMD Ryzen 5 5600X + Radeon RX 6800 – 4K gaming experience for Rs. 1 Lakh tested!

In the past few years, the gaming industry is rapidly moving towards higher resolution gaming, and it’s already time to say goodbye to 1080p gaming as 1440p has become a new norm. Whereas in 2020, we got many powerful GPUs both from AMD and NVIDIA that have helped make 4K gaming even richer and less expensive.

So, in 2021, 4K gaming could be the new norm slowly and steadily, provided we get more horsepower both on the CPU and GPU front. Well, AMD made some bold claims with its latest Ryzen 5000 series processors and, for the first time, went head-to-head with NVIDIA with its Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards.

Also, combining both of these, you can get a good 4K gaming experience, so to test that out, AMD has sent us the new and hard to find Radeon RX 6800 along with the new Ryzen 5 5600X, which we already did a thorough review both in terms of performance and gaming.

In 4K, we got a great gaming experience on various games, from triple-A to eSports. If you combine both of these two gaming parts, you have to spend almost Rs. 1 lakh, and trust me, you will not be disappointed as I told you in my gaming review, the CPU is strong enough to handle 4K gaming with powerful GPUs, so spending more on a GPU makes more sense than vice versa.

The main advantage of Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs is the huge VRAM provided as though a lot of games cannot utilize it fully, but a lot of professional software applications can do so. So, you can pair it with a Ryzen 9 3900XT or Ryzen 7 5800X or even a Ryzen 9 5900X to make a productivity PC beast.

Control

You can see in all of the 16 modern gaming titles you get a healthy 4K gaming experience with some good numbers, even a 4K Ultra settings. Obviously, you will have games like Cyberpunk 2077, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Red Dead Redemption that can challenge your GPU always!

However, if you play at 4K Medium settings, you can play a lot of games with this CPU + GPU combo. It is also the GPU that matters, so the Radeon RX 6800 gives a decent entry-level 4K gaming experience. Do note until now; you couldn’t get even this much amount of performance if you had spent on a costlier last-gen RTX 2080 Ti.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X + Radeon RX 6800 - 4K gaming experience for Rs. 1 Lakh tested!

So, keeping everything in mind, at around Rs. 60k (the inflated prices and availability issues), the RX 6800 makes sense if you want a future-proof GPU with lots of VRAM and play at 4K as well as 1440p occasionally. It totally depends on your preference whether you want a 4K gaming experience with low frame rates or a smooth 1440p gaming.

Forza Horizon 4 at 4K Ultra settings
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X + Radeon RX 6800 - 4K gaming experience for Rs. 1 Lakh tested!
Red Dead Redemption 2 at 4K Ultra settings

I personally prefer 4K gaming even if it’s at low frame rates as I love the visuals, so it depends, like the Forza Horizon 4 at Ultra settings looks stunning. Obviously, if you are spending around Rs. 1 lakh you would like a great 4K gaming experience.

If AMD works on bringing something like NVIDIA DLSS, the performance could be boosted even further. I am working on the full review of the Radeon RX 6800 and on the new Rage Mode as well as the AMD Smart Access Memory, so keep an eye here for that as well.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X + Radeon RX 6800 - 4K gaming experience for Rs. 1 Lakh tested!

In the end, what matters is a good gaming experience whether it’s 4K or 1440p but I would definitely say RX 6800 is an example of AMD’s strong RDNA 2 architecture which should improve in the days to come. If this amount of generational improvements come every year, 4K gaming could be the next 1080p for the upcoming games.

It’s hard to get your hands-on with the Radeon RX 6800 currently, but as Lisa Su said in an interview recently, things could improve only after Q1 2021, then if you do end up getting hands-on with an RX 6800 then you should definitely go for it. Look out for the full review of the new GPU at TechnoSports, while one big good news is that in India, now ample amount Ryzen 5000 series processors are available.
