Google Photos is coming with a new update that turns a 2D image into 3D

Google is repeatedly working on its Photos app. A couple of months ago Google has introduced a new photo editor on Android. It comes with AI suggestions and so many different functions by which you can edit your photos in different ways. Features like color enhancing and color pop are there as well. Now a report has just come out that in the next update, Google will introduce a new feature for Google Photos that will turn regular images into life-like 3D images.

This new feature of Google Photos is called ‘Cinematic photos’ as it will turn a 2D image into a Cinematic 3D image by using Artificial Intelligence. Let’s go for a depth view of this new feature of Google Photos.

By using this feature when you revisit your memory you will feel as if you have been taken back to that moment when you click that photo. That means this new feature will show a regular picture in a 3D image even if the actual picture does not have any depth information on it.

In terms of technology, this new feature will use machine learning to envisage an image’s depth and then convert it into a 3D representation. By adding this feature this app will use a virtual camera to add a smooth planning movement to the image.

This new feature will add to the app for the public from next month. To activate this new feature, you will go through the following stapes: ‘Settings-> Memories-> Advance-> Toggle ON/OFF Cinematic Photos’.

Now Memories will feature some of the most important people in your life and it is expected that very soon Google Photos will able to show your favorite activities also like hiking, cycling, etc. Apart from this, you will also be able to hide some certain people and the time windows from the setting.
