Redmi K40 live images reveal design details with a punch hole

Redmi, a Chinese OEM, has had huge success with its K series. According to many reports, images of Redmi K40 have been leaked online in its home country China. Reportedly, these images were found floating on China’s social media Weibo. Redmi started its much talked K series with Redmi K20, Redmi K20 Pro, and Redmi K20 Premium. After the success, the Chinese company went all out to launch 8 different models of Redmi K30. Now, the rumors are flowing that Redmi’s new-gen models, the Redmi K40 series, is just around the corner.

The live images leaked on Weibo shows a few changes in the design of the upcoming series when compared to the Redmi K30. It is expected that Redmi K40 might be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 888 5G chipset. Also, it will be sporting premium hardware including an AMOLED display. According to the images, Redmi K40 comes with a centered punch hole. This is different from the usual pill-shaped hole on the right side of the Redmi K30’s screen.

This design might not be constant across different models of the K40 series as K30 models came with a slight variation in designs. Redmi K30 Pro, K30 Pro Zoom, and K30 Ultra came with a pop-up camera. Redmi K30, K30 5G, K30i 5G, and K30 5G Racing had the pill-shaped hole we talked about and Redmi K30S came with a hole punch.

The back of the body consists of four cameras like earlier. But this time, camera housing and positioning of sensors are different. The cameras are placed in a rectangle-shaped housing that has curved corners. Images can also show an audio jack at the bottom, a USB-C port on the left, and a speaker grill is on the right-hand side. There’s no official confirmation but reports cite that the Redmi K40 can hit the ground towards the end of this year alongside Xiaomi’s flagship, Mi 11.
