AMD has increased its fan-base during the pandemic

When the world started facing the threat of the Coronavirus pandemic, many organizations worldwide realized just how ill-prepared they were in technology. With many solution experts thinking of finding an optimal solution to meet their PC demand, it introduced the world to the new possibilities brought forth by AMD.

According to sources, ImageNet Consulting was facing unprecedented demand for laptops from its health-care, financial, and manufacturing customers. But the Intel-based systems that ImageNet commonly would have recommended were in short supply. Thus, it made the company then endorse AMD-based techniques developed by HP Inc. As everyone might have guessed, ImageNet ended up becoming a fan of AMD’s performance. Sources claim that AMD now accounts for roughly 65 percent of ImageNet’s 2020 system sales than 35 percent of Intel-based systems.

“We were dealing with probably some of the most stressful times regarding product delivery that I’ve been in for years. I’ve never experienced that before. They gave us the ability to increase profitability; they gave us the ability to increase market share. They gave us the ability to increase our reputation with our customers, which is invaluable. And it gave us the ability to continue doing business in a very tumultuous time. And I couldn’t be happier about that.”

ImageNet is only but one of the many companies introduced to a wide range of possibilities by AMD. And AMD didn’t act in favour of these companies. Instead, these firms themselves ended up becoming fans of the manufacturer of CPU and GPUs. We have already seen the performance of AMD’s components against the likes of Intel and Nvidia. The company doesn’t compromise.

“I think we’re growing by leaps and bounds in the channel. Now, if you look historically, our larger relationships have been in the consumer channel, so sort of in the DIY space, across the world in the desktop and graphics cards. And that’s now expanding to the commercial channel, both commercial PCs as well as more commercial server-type opportunities,” says AMD’s CEO Lisa Su.

The company has managed to secure a large market share during the needs of high-performing PCs. But the company has a long road ahead of it. With its acquisition of Xilinx, AMD’s board is gearing up to expand its possibilities in more products and technologies to help its growth.
