Spurs’ DeMar DeRozan chased intruder out of his LA Home

DeMar DeRozan, a San Antonio Spurs guard, has had an eventful offseason including chasing an intruder out of his house. DeRozan was at his home last month in Los Angeles when he heard an unusual noise close to his children’s play area. When he went to go check the situation, he found himself face-to-face with an intruder that he subsequently chased out of his house. The incident was first reported by TMZ, and recently DeRozan confirmed the report while speaking while media members.

Of the situation, DeRozan said, “Everything is good.” “I grew up in Compton, California, I’ve been through worse,” he commented.

After being chased out of DeRozan’s house, the intruder returned to DeRozan’s gated community sometime later, according to TMZ. He was ultimately stopped and arrested by police. He was charged with one count of felony burglary and was also hit with a restraining order that prevents him from returning to that community.

When he was in custody, the intruder told police that he intended to break into the home of beauty mogul and reality television star Kylie Jenner. Therefore, it appears as though DeRozan’a house was not his intended target. Fortunately, the intruder was caught without any incident. No one was hurt and nothing was taken from DeRozan’s home.

31-year-old DeRozan has one year left on his current contract with the San Antonio Spurs after he recently decided to opt into his $27 million player option for the upcoming 2020-21 season.

About his decision to remain with the Spurs for another season, DeRozan said, “I wasn’t satisfied the way we ended the season,” via the San Antonio Express-News. “It’s always easy to kind of cop out and find a different situation that can heighten your chances to be more successful. I never ran from a challenge. I felt like there was so much left on the table for us to do, especially the way we played in the bubble. It was me feeling like there was unfinished business,” he added.

The Spurs will be opening the 2020-21 season against the Memphis Grizzlies on December 23.
