It’s official! Liverpool are CURSED this season

The football gods have decided that Liverpool’s time in the limelight is officially over. Their injury list has been increasing with every passing week, and they are now going to have to do without their best-attacking player this season, atleast for the next few games.

Mohamed Salah has tested positive for COVID-19, during his time with the Egyptian national team on international duty.

The forward attended his brother, Nasr’s wedding in the last few days, and was seen surrounded by lots of people, who also attended the event. Not all of them were seen wearing masks.

The Egyptian FA have released a statement on social media, indicating that Salah is now in isolation. The same post further states that the player is not showing any symptoms of the disease.

This is the silver lining of the situation, since the absence of severe symptoms should not keep him out for too long.

Mohamed Salah To Play Against Uruguay in World Cup

Liverpool were handed the shocking news of Joe Gomez sustaining a serious injury training with the England national time earlier this week. This sees them without two of their starting centre backs, along with one of their prime attackers in the Egyptian.

If Salah follows the 14-day isolation period as is mandatory for people testing positive for the virus, he will sit out Liverpool’s match against Leicester City in the Premier League and Atalanta in the Champions League.

The 28-year-old’s plight is another piece of evidence as to why international competitions should be scrapped altogether. Having players over from different parts of the world to play matches and mix together in these troubling times is essentially inviting the infection to spread.

In a time where physical contact should be avoided as much as possible, having an international break not only puts players at risk of catching the disease but also puts a lot of physical demands on them.
