Sony decides not to feature 1440p output for PlayStation 5

Made a plan to play on a 1440p monitor with your new PlayStation 5? Then, you will be a little upset to hear that PS 5 doesn’t support 1440p resolution.

The representatives of IGN Italy, have announced officially, that the PS5 doesn’t support 1440p. ‘4K Gaming’ is a popular word in console gaming but players also need a high refresh-rate of 1080p or 1440p gaming. When it comes to pure gaming, refresh-rate matters the most.

If you want to connect your PS5 with a 1440p monitor, you can do that, but the thing is, technically you will get an output of 1080p. The user will not be able to experience a 1440p output if he makes this setup.

Here, Sony is one step behind Microsoft. Microsoft has announced its upcoming Xbox Series S will support 1440p, which will give a boost to compete with PlayStation’s huge market base. The company also declared that Series X would also support 1440p resolution. The Taiwanese multinational company BenQ thought the PS5 would come with a support of 1400p, but now it seems the prediction of BenQ was wrong.

For the console gamers, the TVs are of 1080p or 4K in the majority. 1440p screens are popular in PC gaming. 4K is nothing but a successor of 1080p and, 1440p lies between these two. A 1440p monitor with a 144 Hz refresh-rate can give you smooth gameplay at high resolution than a Full HD display.

The PS5 features 16GB GDDR6 RAM, 825GB SSD, HDMI 2.1, and 4K resolution of maximum 120fps. Sony is using the 8-core AMD Zen 2 for CPU and Custom AMD RDNA 2 GPU. The GPU is clocked higher at 2.23GHz. Sony is going to launch the PlayStation 5 in the next week. Let’s see how the gaming world does respond to Sony.
