Netflix to Offer Free Trial for a Weekend, initiating first in India

Web Series, OTTs, and kinds of stuff have become a very important part of our daily lives, especially in the pandemic situation. But in most cases, there are a number of people in our country who can not afford a subscription or somehow they are in hesitation whether to subscribe or not. So, to get rid of this hesitation, the renowned OTT platform Netflix is planning to offer a free trial of its service to everyone in India for a weekend. At first, they will make this plan started in India and if it clicks, they will move it further to the global market.

Actually, that is not the first time Netflix is offering this trial stuffs. A long time ago, when OTT platforms were not that popular in the market, Netflix used to offer a 30-day free trial to let new users test its service and watch a few Web series before going for its subscription. But unfortunately, this trial subscription offer has been removed by the company.

Netflix Chief Product Officer Greg Peters has revealed this during Netflix’s third-quarter earnings interview. According to him, this new trail promotion is just “an example of the kind of innovation”. As per the company, this new weekend trail policy will attract more and more viewers in the future who will get introduced to the Web streaming service and subscribe to it one day.

“We think that giving everyone in-country access to Netflix for free for a weekend could be a great way to expose a bunch of new people to the amazing stories that we have, the service, how the service works, really create an event, and hopefully get a bunch of those folks to sign up,” Peter said in the interview.

Apart from it, Netflix will also offer some new and exciting features & offers. There will be a wide range of choices in front of the users, by which every kind of user can get the best of it. Again it will be available in India currently. But soon, the whole world will get the benefit from it. Right now, we have a number of OTT platforms in the market. If we talk about India, the number is quite big, like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Voot, Sony LIV, and so on. That’s why to compete against them in a tough market, Netflix needs such kind of promotions.
