Marc Andre Ter-Stegen’s new salary at Barcelona is HUGE

It is no secret that Marc Andre Ter-Stegen is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. With reports surfacing that the German shot-stopper had agreed to extend his Barcelona contract till 2025, it was also rumoured that his new contract would see a steep rise in salary.

Those rumours have recently confirmed to be true. Ter-Stegen wanted to earn an enormous sum of €24 million a year, which would easily see him be the richest goalie in the world and the second-highest earner at Barca behind their crown jewel, Leo Messi.

However, considering the financial crisis that Barcelona are going through, with news breaking last week that Barcelona players could leave for free the next season if they had to take a pay cut, the Blaugrana are going out of their way to accommodate the German.

As per the latest updates from the contract talks between the player and the board, a deal worth €18 million a year has been struck and will be officially announced soon.

Ter-Stegen was heavily chased by European Giants such as Juventus and Bayern Munich before the coronavirus pandemic drastically affected finances.

Despite the amount of money he earns, Ter-Stegen was one of the main reasons why Barcelona managed to finish second last season.

Although he is currently out injured, needing surgery at the end of last season, the German shot-stopper still has enough talent and time on his side to prove that he can be the best in the world and Barcelona are wise to satisfy his demands to keep him happy at the club.

It will still be a few months before the German international can feature for the Blaugrana and Barcelona are likely to announce his return to fitness with a bumper new deal, also set to include an enormous release clause.
