Top 5 Biggest Spenders in the Premier League 2020-21 season: Who will make the biggest impact of them all?

The Premier League clubs spent close to £1 billion yet again in this summer’s transfer window. Five of these clubs however have spent with the intention of making it big this season.

Here we take a look a how these clubs have performed so far and how they are poised for the future:

5) Manchester United [£75.15m]

Although they made a few signings late on deadline day, United look decently stocked across all areas of the pitch. It would definitely hurt not having bought a player like Jadon Sancho. They will do well to fight for the Europa League positions. Edinson Cavani is a proven goal threat, while Telles offers a different dimension on the left flank both in terms of attack and defence.

4) Arsenal [£77.4m]

Perhaps the smartest spenders among all teams, Arsenal have brought in players in the areas they were most deficient. The likes of Gabriel, Thomas Partey, Cedric and Pablo Mari are signings that effectively improve the quality of the team as well as give squad depth options. In their pursuit of Champions’ League football, Arsenal currently sit fourth with 9 points.

3) Leeds United [£94.68m]

A real dark horse for finishing in the top half of the Premier League, Leeds United have certainly announced their arrival in style. The chairman has made sure that his manager has gotten sufficient backing, with key signings of Rodrigo, Koch, Raphinha and Diego Llorente. The way Leeds are going, it seems like they might do enough than just survive.

2) Manchester City [£141.12m]

This summer saw City spend once again on defensive reinforcements that needed resolving. Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake will look to provide a boost in those key areas and seek to stem the flow of goals. Ferran Torres has been brought in as a direct replacement to Leroy Sane. The Citizens, of course, are gunning for the title but have not proved their worth so far.
