FC Goa has confirmed the signing of James Donachie

FC Goa has signed James Donachie from A-League side Newcastle Jets in a one-year-long loan deal. The Australian defender becomes the 9th signing of the season ahead of the 2020/21 season. FC Goa has confirmed the deal in their twitter handle this morning.

James Donachie is a product of Brisbane Roar’s youth academy. He was awarded Australia’s Youth League Player of the Year for two consecutive seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12. Donachie made his first big move to Melbourne Victory after spending 5 years at Brisbane roar. He has signed a three years contract with Newcastle Jets earlier this year.

“I am thrilled to be coming to Goa and India. This should be a great opportunity and challenge for me. I will be playing for a club that’s not only looking to challenge for the title but will also be playing at the highest level in Asia – the AFC Champions League. I feel this move comes at the right time for me. I can’t wait to set sail to India and get on to the ground.”- Donachie stated after joining FC Goa.

Donachie is just 27 years old. He is a very experienced defender as well. He has won A-League three times. Two with Brisbane Roar in the 2011/12 and 2013/14 seasons and the last one with Melbourne Victory in the 2017/18 campaign. He has also the experience of the AFC Champions League tournament, so he is surely a good addition to FC Goa’s backline.
