Star Sports has been the exclusive broadcaster for the Bundesliga matches live in India. Star Sports and Bundesliga had been negotiating for a renewing the broadcasting deal.
But now, both Star Sports and Bundesliga have decided to part ways after they could not reach to an agreement on the commercial terms of the deal. So from the upcoming 2020-21 Bundesliga season, which starts from 19th September, Star Sports won’t be broadcasting the Bundesliga matches in India.
What’s the next destination for all the Indian Bundesliga fans?
Bundesliga has now signed a new deal with FanCode to broadcast all the live matches.
FanCode has previously live-streamed the Caribbean Premier League 2020. So from the next Bundesliga season, starting with Bayern Munich taking on Schalke at 12 am IST on 19th September, FanCode will be live streaming all the Bundesliga matches.
Talking about the fan experience, Yannick Colaco, Co-Founder of FanCode, said: “As one of the most widely followed football leagues in the world, we are looking forward to engaging and onboarding new and existing Bundesliga football fans on the platform to further build on their fandom quotient.”
Talking about the partnership, Robert Klein, CEO Bundesliga International, said: “Germany and India share a world-renowned passion for sport and we believe that the fast, high-scoring football of the Bundesliga is a perfect fit for Indian fans.”.
Along with the Bundesliga, FanCode will also live-stream the German Supercup between Bayern Munich and Borrusia Dortmund.
