Yuvraj Singh writes a letter to BCCI president Sourav Ganguly wanting to make a comeback from retirement

Yuvraj Singh announced his retirement from both international and domestic cricket last year. He last played for India in 2017.

But former World Cup-winning all-rounder has decided to come out of retirement to keep the request of the Punjab Cricket Association [PCA].

PCA secretary Puneet Bali approached Yuvi to come out of retirement for the benefit of Punjab cricket. Yuvraj is considering a return to cricket for his state at least in T-20 format.

In an interview with Cricbuzz Yuvi said, “Initially, I wasn’t sure that I wanted to take up the offer. I was done with domestic cricket, though I did want to continue to play in other domestic franchise-based leagues worldwide if I got permission from the BCCI. But I also couldn’t ignore Mr. Bali’s request. I gave it a lot of thought, for nearly three or four weeks, and it was almost as if I didn’t even have to make a conscious decision in the end.”

Yuvraj was recently working with Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Prabh Simran Singh, and Anmolpreet Singh in the last few days. While mentoring them in the net Yuvi found his playing spirit back again as well. PCA also wants him in the team for one more year. They think Yuvraj’s experience is highly needed in the team. It will eventually help all the other young players to shine more.

“I know he has written a letter to BCCI president Sourav Ganguly wanting to come out of retirement. We want him in the team and the way he mentored four young boys Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Prabh Simran Singh, and Anmolpreet Singh was exceptional. I told him that please give at least one more year of your life to Punjab cricket.”, Bali said.

Yograj Singh, Yuvi’s father is also happy with the decision of his son. “He is a giver. In these times, in the scorching heat, he trained Shubman, Prabh and Abhishek for five hours each day. The way he hit sixes at the new PCA stadium in Mullanpur, everyone wanted him to come back. If he plays at least three years for Punjab, he will give back at two 2 world-class players to Indian cricket. So he must play.”, he said.

It’s a very good news for the Yuvi fans. His fans are waiting to see him back in the crease again.
